On April 4th, Better Brand posted on Instagram that they were going to be working on improving their service, something that would involve both the website and customer service email to be offline. As was customary for Better Brand, they quickly disabled comments to prevent the influx of complaints from angry customers still waiting on bagel orders that never arrived even after their credit cards had been charged, many took to Facebook to seek answers. Back in October we reported on Better Brand’s website being offline, it was quickly restored and in emails viewed by Snaxshot from credible sources, Aimee Yang denied the allegations of the company shuttering, even after we had been able to verify on LinkedIn that there were no employees left working at the company.
She instead accused employees of stealing and conspiring against the company, publicly posting the allegations on the brand account a few days later, claiming the company was back to full health and operational. A month later, on a cheery post made by the company Instagram, they declared they would no longer be found at Whole Foods, but still available in Sprouts and Target in CA and FL, Aimee even posted a story of her in Florida, as to deny allegations that she was somewhere in London, the brand had expanded operations to UK back in 2023, and quickly retreated. As time passed, the company which had originally raised $10M and had been valued at $170M, disappeared from shelves all together, complaints from customers kept mounting, comments on Instagram were either deleted or closed all together, as to prevent more people of revealing the true state of Better Brand, considering there was no one else managing their socials, it was no surprise to see their Facebook left untouched, complaints are still live and their recommendation rate is 50%. It was thanks to their Facebook page, how we were able to find out why Better Brand went conveniently offline around April 4th.
A service of summons printed on March 31st makes it public that JSD Management & Consulting has taken action against Better Brand and founder Aimee Yang, they could not serve her personally as she had not been found at any of the addresses listed, the company also looked for her at her parents home in Florida and hired a private investigator to try and pin her location down, all to no avail. JSD claims Better Brand defaulted on a loan to pay a specialty bakery last year, a loan that totaled $700,000 of which $400,000 is still owed, this does not include the $86,000 it has accrued in interest on the unapid loan.
The company also accuses Aimee Yang of deceit and fraud, alleging they refused to allow them to look into Better Brand’s books to verify how the loan funds were actually being used. You can view the entire petition here.
We reached out to Aimee Yang for comment, the company email bounced.
