Most esteemed snaxers,

So much to unpack, be forewarned this issue is EXTREMELY LONG. NYC, your most beloved cult leader is back in town the week of Nov. 6th to bring you some fun, holiday snax! In the meantime,

Anja Westhues
is leading a 5k run this Saturday, come pre-game the NYC marathon alongside our snax friends!

Brand-o-Ween

You know you’ve actually built a brand when you become a Halloween costume. It was so fun to see folks take on brands like Fishwife, Olipop, Graza and Poppi! Let me know what other ones you spotted!

In Snax World, Halloween is the one day a year when you can dress up like your favorite brand and no one can say anything else about it.

Peek Into the Future 🔮

In this edition of Edible Cogitations, we cover the following topics:

  • Spoonful of News

    Mini Essays

  • Sci-fi Sweetgreen: salads from space courtesy of Sik Mul Sung.

  • Agave Addictions: from NA craze to tacky tequilas

  • Millennial Mini-Fridge: Introducing Rocco

  • Luxe Legumes—one of the best glow-ups of the decade

  • Grocers as the new bars, happy hour on aisle fun

  • Orange You Glad OJ has adaptogens now?

  • Keurig Dr. Pepper enters hydration—they’ve announced a partnership with Electrolit that will allow them to enter the space. KDP is now going to be selling and distributing them.

    • Personally—obsessed with this news considering they are a Mexican company and legit part of so many LatAm households, there’s entire Facebook meme groups dedicated to it. KDP clearly knows what they are doing—considering how Hispanic purchasing power keeps growing in the US.

  • Speaking of Dr. Pepper, they dropped “Hot Take” a spicy take on their drink, and didn’t we literally predict this boom?

  • Cup of Noodles paper cups—Nissin announced their Cup of Noodles will be paper based cups that are equal parts microwaveable and eco-friendly?

    • Considering the size of ramen market—we love to see this giant committing to switching from their styrofoam. Good for them!

  • Campbell’s x Sovos Food is under further scrutiny—or just the illusion of it by the FTC requesting more information on this latest acquisition by SnaxDaddy.

    • IMO—who are they kidding LMAO! Have they seen the consolidated state of groceries? Y’all Campbell’s is not the biggest of your problems, I’d focus that energy on bigger foes.

  • As Holiday season is upon us—Fishwife and Graza both dropped collaborations that are going to end up on every Holiday guide.

  • Everyone’s trying to replicate Oreo’s strategy of the weird mashup.

  • Vacation x Arizona tea is the collab we’ve been waiting for, obsessed they got Arizona’s founder as part of the campaign— “Since 1992, we put the world’s best flavors on your lips, now they’ll stay there.”
