Hello new friends—
There’s a lot more new faces today so I felt apropo to reintroduce myself since a lot of you may not be familiar with what this space is about. Snaxshot is a publication that curates the latest in food and beverage in an effort to predict what’s coming next.
We’ve been pretty successful at this for the past almost 4 years—our work has been featured by all kinds of international mastheads from US, to EU, Latin America, Canada, Australia and Japan—New York Times, The New Yorker, Business Insider, Financial Times, The Guardian, CNN, Wall Street Journal, InStyle, Business of Fashion, LA Times, NPR, Vox, Harper’s Bazaar, Bon Appetit, Vice, Mordu, Access Hollywood, Periodico de España, Sharp Magazine, El Tiempo, Cereal Talk, Adweek, Eater, Food & Wine.
We’ve been tapped by the world’s biggest F&B companies including Starbucks, Nestlé, Anheuser-Busch, Conagra, Kraft Heinz and our newsletter is read by the biggest executives across insights platforms, venture firms, F&B giants, retailers alike.
We’ve become one of the most authoritative voices in what’s upcoming in food and beverage, we became the youngest speaker at the Wall Street Journal Food Forum last year, where we shared a stage with the likes of CEO of General Mills, Impossible Foods, and Jennifer Gardner? We’ve collaborated with the likes of GoPuff and Shopify and worked curating brands for festivals like FWB and Coachella.
Beyond traditional industry we see ourselves as a platform that helps bridge the gaps between consumer, brands, retailers and investors alike, we have hosted events for our brewing community in cities like New York, San Francisco, Boston, LA, Chicago, Austin, Miami, Portland and Mexico City.
There’s so much more in store but I just want to say how grateful I am you are here! If you’re one of the many new folks from corporations and venture firms that joined in, I suggest upgrading to paid where you will be able to draw the most value. Soon we’re dropping our awaited Mid Year Review, which will go in depth into all the topics we’ve been tracking since January in our State of Snax, many prophecies which already came true.
If you’re just a regular snaxer, stick around there’s always goodies for you as well, we also suggest tapping into our Instagram if you’re more into memes and to keep tabs on when we’re popping into your city next— if you’re in LA next week, we’re debuting and offering a FREE exclusive tasting to our product drop #3!
Starbucks poaches Chipotle CEO—
What you need to know is Starbucks stopped being a traditional third space coffee, then it’s same-store sales continuously found themselves decline SB 0.00%↑ stock has lost 20% of its value since 2019
McDonald’s and other QSRs have eaten up their market share since they are now competing with other pick-up spots not perceived as premium. Meanwhile Dutch Bros is aggresively expanding as well.
Starbucks made a HUGE mistake not hiring a CEO with QSR (quick service restaurant) experience when it should have, instead opting for Laxman Narasimham, who came from BigCPG, he used to be CCO of Pepsi.
This hire shot up their stock for a bit, and time will tell if David Niccol, who was able to turn around a declining Chipotle back in 2018, can do the same for Starbucks
Liquid Death partnered with Van Leeuwen on a hot fudge flavored seltzer?
Goodles copies Kraft Heinz in offering a “deluxe” version of their products.
Oreo is also partnering with Coca-Cola on a flavored cookie—boring!
Poppi is doing the most with sororities and honestly feels cringe.
Leaving you with some food for thought memes:
would love to discuss starbucks’ decline more. i know the current discourse is that they’ve turned into a sugary iced drink company. i think they’ve kind of lost the fun factor, i’d love to see them do more collabs to keep the brand fresh. what does everyone else think
oreo released another cookie this year with 'popping candy' in the filling and tbh, it was fire. i agree that this collab looks boring AF (why not introduce a flavor besides plain ol coke?!) but i WILL be buying a package for the pop rocks :)
