Babeeee I’ve written about this in multiple issues, mostly referring to insane raises like a magic spoon (protein cereal) that raised $80M to expand their $12 cereal boxes into retail 😂😂😂https://www.fooddive.com/news/magic-spoon-raises-85m-better-for-you-cereal-retail/625417/

David bars taste horrible and the packaging reminds me of the Mean Girls Kalteen bars. Asked someone on their team why it's called David and they said "no idea but people seem to love biblical names and I think that's why people buy it". LOL!!

Absolutely untrue that you asked someone on the team and they did not know why it’s named David.

I saw EPG and before I even read further into the article I immediately thought "it's giving Olestra".

From Seed Oil Scout

“The David Bar achieves these insane macros by using a fake plant fat known to cause "oil spotting" and diarrhea in adults.

EPG (Esterified Propoxylated Glycerol) has the mouth-feel of a fat, but is completely indigestible, and actually rinses other fat soluble vitamins out of your body and into your stool.

In the 90s EPG gained a bunch of lowfat diet hype, but it couldn't take off due to these messy issues. A recent reformulation is better tolerated, but still as far from nature as it gets. And forget natural flavors, these bars straight up use "synthetic flavors" for which anything goes.”

Hmmm thoughts on EPG being GRAS (passed FDA guidelines?)

Maybe it’s like when Harry’s raised and bought their razor supplier. More of a private equity style growth buyout than a tech VC style investment

Hard to believe thats true if the target is also venture backed
